Cultural excursion to the Buddhist attractions

To provide our incoming exchange students with an understanding of Buddhist culture in Hong Kong, they went on an excursion to the major Buddhist attractions on Lantau Island, the largest outlying island in Hong Kong. At Ngong Ping Village, they enjoyed an immersive, multimedia show “Walking with Buddha” to follow the life of Siddhartha Gautama–the man who became Buddha–and his path to enlightenment. They visited the Tian Tan Buddha, the large seated bronze Buddha statue. They also toured and savoured a vegetarian meal at Po Lin Monastery, one of Hong Kong’s most important Buddhist sanctums with rich and colourful manifestations of Buddhist iconography.
