Sarah Song Yang, Social Sciences Year-one student, has been awarded the second runner-up prize of the AIA Quest for Champion Communicator Contest 2014 – Pearl River Delta (PRD) Round and won the sixth place in the national final.

In the PRD round, 10 contestants from universities in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau delivered three speeches in English, Cantonese and Putonghua on designated topics. Sarah’s outstanding performance brought her into the final round at Shanghai University on 20 April. She was ranked the sixth in the final and received an award of merit.

“The topics given at the competition are quite new, focusing on the latest issues of concern such as bitcoins, environmental protection and AIDS in Dongguan. I have brushed up my research and language capabilities after the competition. I hope fellow students can also join more competitions of this kind in the future,” Sarah said.
