In his “Letter to Lingnanians” on 25 September, President Leonard K Cheng shared some exciting news with Lingnanians, including the naming of Lingnan as one of the “Top 10 Liberal Arts Colleges in Asia” by Forbes and our scholars’ outstanding performance in the 2015/16 General Research Fund and Early Career Scheme funding exercise.

President Cheng welcomed new staff and students who joined Lingnan at the new semester and thanked faculty members who have taken up new administrative posts. He also announced the establishment of the new Science Unit and introduced its Unit Head Prof Mark Alan McGinley and Assistant Professor Jonathan Fong who will develop science courses for the “Science, Technology and Society” cluster of the Core Curriculum.

Concerning campus facilities, President Cheng gladly announced the opening of the new footbridge that links the Simon and Eleanor Kwok Building, the Wong Ho Chuen Hall and Wu Jieh Yee Hall, and the Outdoor Sports Ground to our main campus. He also reported on the measures taken to deal with the excessive lead levels found in drinking water samples on campus.
