Internationalisation Strategy under the Belt and Road Policy

To support student mobility between Hong Kong and the Asian and Eastern Europe countries in the Belt and Road (B&R) regions, the Office of Global Education has set a goal of encouraging Lingnan students to move out of their comfort zones and to explore these countries.

In summer 2018, we will subsidise students’ participation in the 5-week summer school organised by Seoul National University in Korea. A group of 15 students will be sent to the Seoul National University International Summer Institute to explore academic areas, particularly Korean Studies and International & East Asian Studies. Another 10 students will receive subsidies to participate in the 4-week East and Central European Studies Summer Programme offered by the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. They will spend their summer in Prague, experiencing a new culture and taking courses in a range of academic fields including Art and Culture, Sociology, Psychology, History, Literature, Economics, Politics and the Czech language. Two students will join the National Chengchi University International Summer School in Taiwan to take English-taught courses in the field of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities with a focus on Taiwan, China and East Asia. These exchange opportunities in major developing economies in the B&R regions will provide students with unique learning experiences, raise their cross-cultural awareness and nurture their international outlook and ability to thrive in a globalised world.
