Lingnan University received 1,430 new students at the New Student Orientation on 1-4 September.


Lingnan alumnus Day Kwei-kwan is holding an exhibition of his calligraphy works from 27 August to 26 October at Fong Sum Wood Library to promote this art form and Chinese culture.

More than 100 guests and Tuen Mun residents shared a Sunday morning of fun, health and laughter at the kick-off ceremony of Think-Act-Contribute (TAC) 2012 on 16 September.

The Lingnan University Aquatic Meet 2012 was held on 24 September at Tin Ka Ping Swimming Pool.

Four Lingnan students were selected to participate in the four-week Lee Shiu Summer Programme 2012 with 88 tertiary students from Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai to identify global challenges and solutions.

The University’s Office of Service-Learning (OSL) held its open-house party and a luncheon sharing session on 25 September.

The Office of Mainland and International Programmes (OMIP) has launched its revamped web site at www.LN.edu.hk/OMIP.

Lingnan University conferred honorary fellowship upon Mr Dominic Ng, Chairman and CEO of East West Bank, on 30 August.

Prof Ho Lok-sang, Director of the Centre for Public Policy Studies (CPPS), presented the key findings of the latest survey on children’s personal development and happiness index on 27 September.

Awards and people

At the 43rd Congregation on 15 November, Lingnan University will confer honorary doctorates upon five distinguished individuals, namely Mr Liu Mingkang; Prof Jagdish N Bhagwati; Dr John Chan Cho-chak, GBS, JP; The Hon Wong Yan-lung, GBM, SC and Dr Ann Hui On-wah, BBS, MBE, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to education and the well-being of the community.


Following the honorary fellowship ceremony-cum-luncheon on 30 August, a ceremony will be held at Chan Tak Tai Auditorium on 15 October, during which honorary fellowship will be conferred upon Mr Ho Hei-wah, Mr Samuel N Tsien, Dr David Wong Yau-kar and Mr Lincoln Yung Chu-kuen.


Twelve academic and administrative staff members were honoured at the Teaching, Research & Service Awards Ceremony 2011/12 on 25 September for their outstanding performance.


New appointments and re-appointments to the Council and Court of Lingnan University have been made by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR. 


Dr Ada Wong, Assistant Professor of the Department of Marketing and International Business, has won The Best Presenter Award at a business conference in London.

The 30th volume of “Cultural Studies@Lingnan” is now published.


Authored by research fellows and staff members of the Centre for Humanities Research (CHR), a new book Hong Kong Memories in Cinema has been recently published by the Hong Kong Film Archive.
