Students and teachers at Lingnan University welcomed the arrival of the Year of the Snake together at the Spring Festival 2013 carnival on 4 February.

Lingnan University held the Chinese New Year Media Reception 2013 on 18 February.

About 120 students from 13 primary schools in Tuen Mun visited Lingnan University on 20 February to experience university life.

Support the Red-Grey Wish Fundraising Campaign and help students realise the full potential of liberal arts education at Lingnan!

The Government has launched the 6th Matching Grant Scheme (MGS) for a two-year period from 1 August 2012 to 31 July 2014.

The Centre for English and Additional Languages has launched the English Language Support Service to better help undergraduate students improve their English outside the classroom.

Mr Jimmy Ho, Managing Director of Korn/Ferry International (HK) Ltd and 42 outstanding alumni were invited to talk about their work experiences at the “Lingather Programme 2013 – Alumni Advising Night”.

The Centre for Asian Pacific Studies hosted a conference on "The Korean Peninsula: Assessing Prospects for Change" on 11 January.

Centre for Humanities Research held the "Hong Kong Literature and Culture of the 1950s Seminar Series (14): Hong Kong Architecture Styles of the 1950s" on 22 January.

To pay respect to Prof Leung Ping-kwan (Ye Si), Hong Kong Public Libraries and Faculty of Humanities, The Hong Kong Institute of Education jointly organised a public seminar on "Ye Si and Hong Kong Literature" on 26 January.

The Centre for Humanities Research (CHR) invited Prof Wolfgang Kubin to speak on ‘What Mainland Writers could learn from Hong Kong Literature?’ on 27 February.

Awards and people

Prof Jesús Seade, Vice-President of Lingnan University, was conferred the titles of Senior Fellow and Honorary Professor of the Asian College of Knowledge Management at a ceremony at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University on 24 January.

Hundreds of friends, students and staff members paid their last respect to Prof Leung Ping-kwan (Ye Si), who passed away on 5 January at the age of 63, at the memorial services organised by Lingnan and students of the Chinese Society respectively on 20 January.

Lingnan University held the Mainland Summer Internship Programmes 2012 Award Presentation Ceremony on 28 January to honour those participants with outstanding performance.

Lingnan University’s Taekwondo Team was crowned overall champion of the Tuen Mun Taekwondo Inter-Team Competition 2012 on 20 January at the Jockey Club Tuen Mun Butterfly Beach Sport Centre.

Lingnan University Rugby Team got excellent results at the 2013 Standard Chartered Tertiary Invitation Sevens Tournament and the Standard Chartered Tertiary Beginner Tens Tournament.
