The University’s orientation camps this summer received a number of awards in Friends of the Earth’s Green! O Camp Project.

Research and academic activities

Lingnan University organised the Cyber Security and Digital Forensics Conference to arouse public awareness on cyber security and put forward the new concept of incorporating digital forensic as standard corporate governance for enterprises, SMEs, NGOs and other organisations. 

The Centre for Public Policy Studies of Lingnan University and China Institute of Regulation Research of Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics signed a strategic collaboration agreement at Lingnan’s campus on 3 December.

The Department of Sociology and Social Policy hosted an international conference entitled “Burma / Myanmar: Taking the Transition to the Next Stage” on 3 December to discuss the latest political and social development of Myanmar.

The 2015 Academy of International Business Southeast Asia Regional Conference, co-organised by Lingnan’s Hong Kong Institute of Business Studies and Chapter – Southeast Asia of the Academy of International Business was held during 3-5 December in Penang, Malaysia.

Lingnan University hosted the “Identity, Modernity and Culture” International Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Conference for the Arts on 4 and 5 December, which aims to encourage students to expose themselves to different areas of arts research, and build up their preliminary academic network in East Asia.

The International Workshop on Managing Rapid Socio-Economic and Demographic Change: Social Policy Responses in Comparative Perspective, with Lingnan’s Centre for Asian Pacific Studies as one of the co-organisers, was held at Lingnan University on 8 December.

A group of scholars and students from Sun Yat-sen University’s Centre for Studies of Hong Kong, Macao and Pearl River Delta and Collaborative Innovation Centre for the Cooperation and Development of Hong Kong, Macao and Mainland China visited Lingnan University from 9 to 11 December for academic exchange.

Teaching and Learning

Starting from 2016/17, Lingnan University and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona will jointly offer a Double-Master Degree Programme in Research in Economic Analysis and International Banking and Finance.


Lingnan University’s Annual Report 2014/15 published this month summarises the University’s developments in teaching & learning, research and contributions to society in the past year.

The new issue of Lingnan Chronicle features the e-learning project carried out by the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Prof Wei Xiangdong, which attempted to tackle the urban-rural gap in education and the problem of “left-behind-children” in rural China.

The new book Translation and Academic Journals: The Evolving Landscape of Scholarly Publishing, edited by Prof Sun Yifeng, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Professor, Department of Translation examines the evolving landscape of scholarly publishing.

The Centre for English and Addition Languages’ Newsletter December/January 2015-2016 issue is now published.
