To celebrate the 10th anniversary of inauguration of Service-Learning at Lingnan University, the Office of Service-Learning organised the “International Symposium: Network Strengthening for Service-Learning through Regional Collaboration” from 9 to 12 March.
Year 4 Social Sciences student Jenny Lam Wing-yee received this year’s Sir Edward Youde Memorial Scholarship for her academic excellence and care for the society. The award presentation ceremony was held on 13 March.
With their perseverance, industrious effort and determination to strive for ongoing progress, sports teams of Lingnan University have grown in strength continuously and made good achievements over a period of time. The Karate Team and Rugby Team are encouraging examples.
Lingnan students won numerous awards in the 10th Hong Kong Inter-tertiary Institution Putonghua Recitation Contest, including the Championships in Poetry Group Recitation and Solo Recitation (Section of International Students), held on 19 March.
The Hong Kong SAR Government announced on 18 March the appointment of Prof Alfred Chan Cheung-ming as Chairperson of Equal Opportunities Commission for a term of three years commencing 11 April.
The University has recently strengthened its global links with the establishment of new inter-institutional agreements and renewal of existing agreements.
With support from the Department of Sociology and Social Policy and funding from the Sino-British Foundation, a unique roundtable and knowledge transfer event was held on 26 February on “Skateboarding and Wellbeing”.
According to the results of the 2015 Hong Kong Children’s Happiness Index Survey released by Lingnan University’s Centre for Public Policy Studies on 30 March, the overall Children’s Happiness Index in 2015 dropped noticeably to 6.49 from 6.74 in 2014.
Prof Tjonnie GF Li, Research Assistant Professor from the Department of Physics of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, was invited to the Lingnan campus on 4 March to share the ground-breaking discovery of gravitational wave.
“Lingather Programme 2016: Alumni Career Advising Night”, organised by the Student Services Centre and the Department of Management of Lingnan University, was held on 2 March.
Lingnan University hosted the “A Day at University” campus visit for 145 students from 15 primary schools in Tuen Mun on 2 March, which offered them the opportunity to experience university life in a liberal arts university campus.
The arts gala “Lingnan Arts Festival 2016” was held from 2 to 30 March, featuring a rich cornucopia of musical and cultural events on campus.
At the “TEDx Lingnan University” event on 5 March, 14 speakers with different backgrounds provided thought-provoking talks, with students and members of the public gathered to explore the many bold paths life can take.
Lingnan University’s 2nd Equal Opportunities Awareness Campaign kicked off on 7 March to arouse teachers’ and students’ awareness of equal opportunities and social inclusion.
