Lingnan University organised an exhibition entitled “A New Era for Education Reform” from 31 March to 2 April 2011 at Maritime Square, Tsing Yi to allow parents, students, teachers and the public to have a more thorough understanding of the new education system and the coming four-year university curriculum. University staff were also on hand to answer any queries.

Dr Catherine K K Chan, Deputy Secretary for Education (Curriculum and Quality Assurance Branch), Mr Ho Moon-tim, Chairman of The Association of Heads of Secondary Schools of Tsuen Wan, Kwai Chung & Tsing Yi District and President Prof Chan Yuk-Shee officiated at the closing ceremony of the exhibition. Prof Chan remarked that the University would take the great opportunity provided by the new education system to offer the best liberal arts education to students by enhancing its curriculum, expanding its student exchange network and increasing its student hostel places.

Dr Chan said the 3-3-4 education system had led to a smoother study path for students and allowed them to benefit from a more balanced and broad-based curriculum and develop lifelong learning skills. University life will be enhanced, as in the case of Lingnan University, with more emphasis on an international campus, 100% student accommodation and more overseas exchange opportunities for students.

Mr Ho said the new education system had given students more choice in their studies and provided them with more opportunities to firm up their knowledge base and develop capabilities. He called on students to seize this great chance to work hard and prepare themselves for challenges in the future.

Panels were set up to introduce the 3-3-4 education system and four-year university curriculum. In addition, the University invited secondary schools in Tsuen Wan and Kwai Tsing to give cultural performances to showcase their talents and school lives during the ceremony, including magic show, Chinese opera and Chinese orchestral performances.
