At the invitation of Lingnan University, former Deputy Foreign Minister of Israel Dr Yossi Beilin spoke on “From Oslo Accord to Agreement between the State of Israel and the Palestinian Authority” on 7 November.
Dr Beilin shared with students interesting stories about the process for peace in the Middle East, as well as his personal experience with former president Shimon Peres. He also analysed the complicated situation of the Middle East and shared his thoughts on the region’s political development.
The Oslo Accord is an agreement signed between the State of Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) in September 1993, with an aim to effectively bring the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to an end by means of territorial concessions and facilitating the creation of the Palestinian Authority.
Dr Yossi Beilin, former Deputy Foreign Minister of the State of Israel (1992-1995), is also its former Deputy Finance Minister (1988-1990), former Minister of Justice (1999-2001), Religious Affairs (2000-2001), and Economy and Planning (1995). He is the Founder and President of Beilink-Business Foreign Affairs Ltd and Chairman of the Steering Committee of H L Education for Peace (The Geneva Initiative, Israel).
