Starting from 2016/17, Lingnan University and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) will jointly offer a Double-Master Degree Programme in Research in Economic Analysis and International Banking and Finance. This is the first double-master degree programme between any Spanish university and universities in Hong Kong.

The partnership agreement was signed at a ceremony held at Lingnan University on 2 December by President Leonard K Cheng and Prof Ferran Sancho Pifarré, Rector of Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.  Consul General Santiago Martinez-caro, Consulate General of Spain in Hong Kong and Prof Lin Ping, Head of Department of Economics, Director of Master of Science in International Banking and Finance (MIBF) Programme and Director of Centre for Public Policy Studies, Lingnan University, also attended the ceremony to witness the signing of the agreement.

The two-year master programme provides students with not only a solid grounding in economics that emphasises rigorous analytical thinking and advanced quantitative and computation methods, but also a broad-based and practical training in international banking and finance. Students will be arranged to take assigned subjects in UAB in the first year and the last semester of the second year, and take the core clusters at Lingnan during the first semester of the second year respectively.  Graduates of the master programme will be able to apply for the IDEA Doctoral Degree Programme offered by UAB or develop their career in related job aspects.
