Lingnan University’s Chinese Debate Team demonstrated its critical thinking ability, strong acumen on social affairs and excellent debating skills, and won the Champion in the Hong Kong Inter-collegiate Debate Competition 2016 held on April 16.

On the opposition side of the debate themed “Hong Kong should implement Universal Retirement Protection”, Lingnan University’s Debate Team comprising Tso Sin (Social Sciences, Year 4), Wong Shu-man (Chinese, Year 4), Ng Yan-ho (Chinese, Year 3) and Liu Kwun-lok (Chinese, Year 2) beat the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology team by 4:1 and won the Champion.  Wong Shu-man, First Speaker of the Lingnan team, won the Best Debater Award.

Judges of the competition finals included Deputy High Court Judge Poon Siu-tung, President of the Legislative Council Tsang Yok-sing, Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data Wong Kai-yi, member of the Bar Council of the Bar Association Anson Wong, and Director of Broadcasting Leung Ka-wing.
