An opening ceremony of the Wong Hoo Chuen Hall and Wu Jieh Yee Hall was held on 8 October, officiated by Dr Patrick Wu Po-kong, JP (representative of Wu Jieh Yee Charitable Foundation and Dr Wong Hoo-chuen), The Hon Bernard Charnwut Chan, GBS, JP, Chairman of the University Council, Mr Ben Wong Chung-mat, MH, JP, Treasurer of the University Council and President Chan Yuk-Shee of the University. 

Mr Bernard Chan expressed his deepest gratitude to Dr Wong Hoo-chuen and Wu Jieh Yee Charitable Foundation for their support over the years. “Dr Wong and Dr Wu’s support is a cardiotonic to the University for achieving the 100% residential rate.” President Chan also thanked for their contributions to Lingnan, which have enabled the University to provide 700 well-equipped and comfortable hostel living places to students.

Hostel life is one of the essential parts of a liberal arts education. Currently, 85% of the University’s undergraduates are living on campus.
