The “Shanghai-Hong Kong Future Leaders (Lingnan Elites) Internship Programme 2015”, co-organised by Lingnan University and the Hongkong-Shanghai Economic Development Association, will arrange 36 Lingnan students to take up summer internship at prominent corporations in Shanghai for seven weeks from May to July. A launching ceremony was held on 21 May.

Enterprises participating in the internship programme are leaders in the fields of marketing and multimedia, allowing students to experience working in the fastest-growing sectors of Mainland China. Prominent enterprises and multinational corporations joining the programme include Oriental DreamWorks, East Money Information Co Ltd, Shanghai Media Group Limited and Always (Shanghai) Marketing Services Co Ltd. This year, the internship programme has attracted the participation of more top enterprises including Shanghai Nimble-Mind Marketing Consultant Co Ltd, Winfopay Network Technology Co Ltd and Unique Shanghai.

The “Shanghai-Hongkong-People” programme will also be introduced in this year’s internship. Members of the Hongkong-Shanghai Economic Development Association will be designated as group mentors, and meet with Lingnan students participating in the programme regularly in Hong Kong and Shanghai to understand their internship progress, share personal experience and assist students in resolving problems encountered during the internship.

Mr Andrew Yao Cho-fai, Hong Kong Deputy to the National People’s Congress and President of the Hongkong-Shanghai Economic Development Association, pointed out in his address that this year’s programme has deliberately included some e-commerce companies, and students who intend to start their own business in future are expected to benefit from it substantially. Prof Leonard K Cheng, President of Lingnan University, thanked the Hongkong-Shanghai Economic Development Association and the support of related organisations including the Home Affairs Bureau and Commission on Youth in tailoring this internship programme for Lingnan students.
