Lingnan’s Centre for Humanities Research (CHR) conducted six talks about Hong Kong and Macao culture at the Carmo Hall, Taipa, Macao from October to December 2015 in collaboration with the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) of the Macao SAR Government. The talks received enthusiastic response from citizens of Macao, who had in-depth exchange with speakers. IACM subsequently published the book Crossover of Two Cities (edited by Chris Song), with the collection of articles by the six speakers from CHR as well as three papers on the cultures of Hong Kong and Macao from a comparative perspective. The book covered many areas in Hong Kong and Macao cultures including literature, cinema, food, visual art, translation, photography, Cantonese opera, etc. The talks are also part of CHR’s knowledge transfer project “Hong Kong Literature and Culture of the 1950s and 1960s Public Lecture Series”. The project aims to showcase CHR’s research outcomes under UGC’s General Research Fund to the people of Hong Kong and neighboring cities.
