During his public lecture on 5 March, Prof Avinash Dixit, Distinguished Adjunct Professor of Economics, attempted a better understanding of bureaucracy guided by the economics of incentives and organisations. He emphasised the need for a closer connection between the design and implementation of policy, suggesting some reforms that seem relevant for developing countries that wish to sustain growth and progress to and beyond a middle-income level.
