Dr Mary Wong Shuk-han of the Department of Chinese of Lingnan University has published a new book titled Hong Kong Cinema and Literature: Writer, Film and Adaptation.

Essays in this collection explore the various relationships between film and renowned writers such as Lu Xun, Eileen Chang, Evan Yang and Ye Si, from their love of films, literary creations, film critiques, screenplay writings to film adaptions of their works. Case studies were also included to examine how different generations of Chinese film directors such as Evan Yang, Lee Sun-fung, Tsui Hark, Ann Hui, Stanley Kwan and Ang Lee responded to literary works with moving images.

Jointly published by Hong Kong University Press and The Open University of Hong Kong Press, the book is the latest addition to the “Literature and Cinema Series”.
