Campus Snapshots

Since its inception in 2011, the Arts Festival has savoured a rich cornucopia of musical and cultural events on campus. lt aims to bring various forms of the arts from Hong Kong as well as other parts of the world to Lingnan. Students and staff will be able to enrich their cultural well-being through enjoying and taking part in a variety of arts and cultural activities.

This year’s diverse, month-long programme includes a Shakespearean play “Titus Andronicus 2.0” by Tang Shu-wing theatre studio, “Theatre & Life” film series, seminars by Artist-in-Residence Ms Mary Stephen as well as Writers-in-Residence Ms Collier Nogues and Mr Luo Yijun. Same as previous years, there will be a wonderful array of musical performances including RTHK String Quartet Concert and a closing performance “Peking and Kun Opera Appreciation”.

As a prelude to the Arts Festival 2016, renowned music scholar Prof Yu Siu-wah played music with his friends at Lingnan on 19 January. They brought back the past popular culture in Guangdong in which people got together in public places such as communal halls or even under village trees to play music, to enjoy tea, to appreciate pet birds and insects. Through attending the concert hosted by Prof Yu, music lovers had the opportunity to enjoy this long forgotten practice on the Lingnan campus.

Lingnan Arts Festival 2016 will be held on 2-30 March. For programme details and reservation, please visit: http://www.ln.edu.hk/arts/af2016/.
