Eighteen Green Ambassadors of Lingnan had a memorable eco-tour to Kenting, Taiwan on 24-29 May. After visiting different eco-friendly sight-seeing spots and green organisations, they have learnt a lot about ecological conservation and how the government can strike a balance between economic prosperity and sustainable development of the environment.

During the six-day tour organised under the Lingnan University Green Campus Programme 2011/12, the Green Ambassadors visited a resource recovery plant in Ping Tung, which generates electricity with waste, and a nuclear power plant. They also watched the Formosa sika deers in the late-night visit to Sheding Park. At the National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium, the ambassadors stayed overnight to see the coral kingdom and the underwater world, and to “sleep” with the fish in the Open Ocean Aquarium.

The Green Ambassadors found the trip eye-opening and inspiring, adding that the Green Ambassador Scheme had enhanced their awareness of the importance of saving natural resources and protecting the environment.

Lingnan University Green Campus Programme commenced in 2008 with the sponsorship by Hang Seng Bank.
