Jointly organised by Lingnan’s Department of Chinese and the Center for Taiwan Studies, College of Liberal Arts, National Taiwan University, the symposium on “Hong Kong literature in Taiwan” on 4 May provided a platform for scholars and literary writers from Hong Kong, Taiwan and mainland China to discuss the production process of Hong Kong literature and its inextricable relationship with Taiwan literature. More than 20 leading scholars and writers attended the symposium, including Prof Antonio Chen Chien-chung, Prof Leonard Chan, Dr Chan Chi-tak, Dr Chan Kit-yee, Chang Man-chuan, Choi Yick-wai, Prof Chung Ling, Sharon Chung Hiu-yeung, Dr Fan Sin-piu, Prof Joseph Lau Shiu-ming, Prof Lee Jui-teng, Prof Liao Hsien-hao, Liu Ka-shiang, Prof Lo Wai-luen, Ma Ka-fai, Prof Mei Chia-ling, Dr Shiu Wen-wei, Su Wei-chen, Dr Wong Nim-yan, Prof Xu Zidong and Dr Ying Feng-huang.

Prof Chung, Associate Vice-President and Dean of the Arts Faculty of Hong Kong Baptist University and Prof Lee, Director of the National Museum of Taiwan Literature, delivered the keynote speeches on “Taiwan experience and Taiwan writing of Hong Kong writers” and “Hong Kong literature in Taiwan: A historical survey” respectively.
