An international conference titled “Hong Kong and the World through Leung Ping Kwan” was held by the Centre for Humanities Research and the Faculty of Arts of Lingnan University from 21 to 23 May on campus, gathering acclaimed scholars from the United States, Switzerland, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Macao, Mainland China, as well as local experts from universities in Hong Kong who presented excellent papers about the oeuvre of the late Prof Leung Ping Kwan (Ye Si). Internationally renowned scholar Prof Rey Chow (Duke University, US) gave the keynote speech “Leung Ping Kwan: Shuqing and Reveries of Space”, unfolding the sophistication of Prof Leung’s poetry. An open seminar was also held at the Central Library in Causeway Bay, in which local writers, columnists, film directors, playwrights and poets cherished the memories of Prof Leung and his contribution to the cultural and literary communities in Hong Kong.
