Following the success in the past four years, Lingnan University and the Hong Kong Professionals & Senior Executives Association (HKPASEA) continue to join hands to organise the fifth Leadership Mentoring Programme this year. The kick-off Ceremony on 11 April was officiated by HKPASEA President Ir Dr Hon Lo Wai-kwok and President Leonard K Cheng.

This year 26 HKPASEA members are invited to be mentors for 43 students from all disciplines. As leaders in their respective professions, the mentors will offer direct guidance to and share their life experience, career success and leadership skills with students.

In his welcoming speech, President Leonard K Cheng thanked all the mentors for their time and passion to help the students. He encouraged the students to seek advice actively on career development and set clear goals for their future. Ir Dr Hon Lo also called on students to seize every opportunity to enrich knowledge as well as creativity to face the challenges in the rapidly changing and globalized society. He concluded with a quote of Steve Jobs “You have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future”, and said the mentors might be some of the “dots” in the students’ lives.

Alumnus Andrew Chan Hon-yin shared his past experience in joining the Programme in 2012. He expressed heartfelt appreciation to his mentor, Mr Addy Wong, for continuing to provide him with generous guidance even after his graduation. Andrew also encouraged fellow students to be grateful for the immense opportunities provided by the University and to maximise their learning experience by proactive participation.
