On 27 April, Lingnan University Alumni Volunteer Team and 40 members of Wai Ji Christian Service participated in the “Djembe with Me!” activity, learning how to play “djembe”, a traditional African musical instrument, at the Music Farm. The tour was aimed at preaching happiness and positive thinking to combat stress and challenges in daily life.
Led by instructors of the Music Farm, Lingnan volunteers and Wai Ji members got to know more about the background of djembe, its rhythm and some traditional African songs. Excitement flared up as they played timeless Cantonese oldies in djembe music and danced together. They also played group games and learned to make traditional African accessories. Trust and friendship were established among the participants on the happy occasion.
Wai Ji Christian Service aims at promoting equality through community education and striving for the benefits of the underprivileged. The organisation is dedicated to helping the disabled to integrate into society, in collaboration with their family and the people at large, through providing innovative and diversified services.
