Lingnan has become a member of The Global Liberal Arts Alliance, an organisation of liberal arts colleges and universities which aims at strengthening education in the tradition of the liberal arts through the exchange of experience and the development of mutually beneficial programmes.
The Alliance is administered by the Great Lakes Colleges Association (GLCA), a consortium of 13 liberal arts colleges located in the US around the Great Lakes. With the recent admission of Lingnan, the Alliance now has 26 member institutions from 14 countries in all four continents of the world.
Lingnan’s admission to the Alliance was approved after a campus visit on 25 April by GLCA President Prof Richard Detweiler, who found the University’s liberal arts education very impressive. Prof Detweiler met with Acting President Prof Jesús Seade, other senior management members and students. He also toured the library, an exhibition of the works of the University’s artist-in-residence Ms Nicola Barsaleau and a student hostel room.
