With their perseverance, industrious effort and determination to strive for ongoing progress, sports teams of Lingnan University have grown in strength continuously and made good achievements over a period of time.  The Karate Team and Rugby Team are encouraging examples.

Lingnan’s Karate Team achieved excellent results in the University Sports Federation of Hong Kong Karatedo Competition on 20 March.  Year 3 Social Sciences student Wong Cheuk-lee won the Championship in Senior Female Kumite +62kg category, while the team comprising Fong Oi-ning (BBA, Year 4), Poon Pui-yee (BSS, Year 4) and Lau Choi-yan (BBA, Year 2) won the 1st runner-up in Team Kata category of the competition.  Women’s Karate Team of Lingnan also ranked 4th in the competition’s overall results.

The University’s Rugby Team also witnessed substantial progress in recent years.  Men’s Rugby Team won the Varsity Cup of the Standard Chartered Tertiary Rugby XVs League held in June last year, and at the Standard Chartered Tertiary Rugby Beginners Sevens 2015 held in December last year, both Women’s and Men’s teams grasped the 1st runner-up.  Although both teams cannot win any award at the USFHK Rugby Sevens Tournament held in late March, their devoted team performance has fully demonstrated the Lingnan Spirit marked by passion and perseverance!

May Lingnan athletes continue with their efforts and aim for higher achievements!
