Thirty-four Lingnan students are sponsored by the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) through The Mainland Summer Internship Programme 2015 to work as interns in Shanghai for eight weeks during the summer vacation. Apart from gaining hands-on experience in their assigned companies, students can also witness the latest development of Shanghai’s financial hub.

Around 200 students, representatives from local universities, CGCC members and guests attended the programme’s kick-off ceremony on 12 May. The ceremony was officiated by CGCC Chairman Dr Charles Yeung, HKSAR Secretary for Education Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, Mr Li Jiyi, Deputy Director General, Department of Youth Affairs, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in HKSAR, CGCC Vice-Chairman Mr Lawrence Ma Chung-lai, CGCC Life Honorary Chairman Mr Lam Kwong-siu, CGCC Education Funding Committee Chairman Mr Stephen Tan, The Chinese University of Hong Kong President Prof Joseph Sung, The University of Hong Kong Vice-President Mr Douglas So and Lingnan University Associate Vice-President (Student Affairs) Prof Grace Lau Yin-ping.

Summer internships are available in a wide range of departments of 14 prominent companies, such as audit, corporate development, finance, customer service, human resources, media and advertising, lease and promotion, public relations, sales and marketing and strategic development. Students will not only work as interns in these companies but will also attend industry sharing by senior management and join field trips to broaden their horizons.
