Research and academic activities

Scholars from mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong took part in a symposium on 30 April 2011 on campus to discuss issues related to the teaching of modern Chinese literature in secondary school. The symposium was organised by Lingnan University’s Chinese Department as an activity under the Hong Kong Jockey Club Distinguished Visiting Professorship of Modern Chinese Literature Programme.

Prof Chui Cheung-ki, Principal of Pui Kiu Middle School and Associate Professor of the Department of Chinese Literature, Chu Hai College of Higher Education, reported on the findings of a survey that he conducted among secondary schools and called for the inclusion of more required readings in the New Senior Secondary Curriculum. Other scholars presented papers on topics such as the examination system, curriculum structure and teaching materials of the three places.
