On 14 November, Mr Chung Po-yang (alias Po Chung), co-founder and chairman emeritus of DHL International (HK) Ltd, was invited to speak on how he managed his courier empire and nurtured young leaders in service management at the third 2011/12 university assembly.
Mr Chung said that service industries contribute to over 90% of Hong Kong’s GDP and employs most of the working population. He thinks that expertise, character and care are essential for outstanding service leadership. Other success factors including competence, intelligence, emotion management, social skills, integrity, health, a broad perspective and leadership skills are critical as well. He also encouraged students to have a craving for life-long learning and to step out of their comfort zones to strive for greater achievements.
