Prof Law Wing-sang, Associate Professor of Cultural Studies, published a book (in Chinese) entitled Collaborative Colonial Power – The Making of the Hong Kong Chinese in June.
A Chinese translation of his work Collaborative Colonial Power – The Making of the Hong Kong Chinese, the new book explores the omnipresence of colonial power, which has an important impact on Hong Kong’s destiny, and the controversy over the identity of the Hong Kong Chinese after the handover of Hong Kong in 1997. By looking into how Chinese nationalism and colonial history in Hong Kong interwove, it also tries to overthrow the conceptual dualism that remains in the post-colonial cultural studies.
