Prof Cai Zongqi, Lee Wing Tat Chair Professor of Chinese Literature and Head of Department of Chinese, has been awarded the Humanities and Social Sciences Prestigious Fellowship by the Research Grants Council (RGC) for the 2015/16 funding exercise.

By tracing the historical evolution of the key terms and concepts of Chinese Literary, Prof Cai’s funded project entitled ”A Critical History of Chinese Literary Thought” attempts to perceive an inner coherence of Chinese literary thought and to explain the reasons for uncomplimentary view of Chinese literary thought, in hope of bringing Chinese literary thought into the mainstream literary scholarship.

This year the Humanities and Social Sciences Prestigious Fellowship Scheme received a total of 22 applications from UGC-funded institutions.  Three were granted funding with Prof Cai’s project being one of them.
