Mr Liu Ka-shiang, 2012 Writer-in-residence of the Chinese Department at Lingnan, shared his observations and writings on nature in Hong Kong on 9 March. He also discussed the recent rail travels in Taiwan in another public seminar at Kubrick bookstore, Yaumatei on 24 March. He encouraged the audience to treasure the relatively well-preserved natural landscape and wildlife in Hong Kong, and rethink the various issues related to tourism and travel.
As writer-in-residence, Mr Liu is teaching “Scenery Writing in the New Territories” in the second semester of 2011/12. During his stay with Lingnan, Mr Liu has led students on hiking tours to explore the history of local writing in Hong Kong and enhance their understanding of the community.
This year the Writer-in-residence programme is sponsored by Drs Richard Charles & Esther Yewpick Lee Charitable Foundation.
