Lingnan University and Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong (YMCA) held a signing ceremony for the establishment of University YMCA (Lingnan University) on 24 February 2011. YMCA would organise leadership training activities and provide volunteer service as well as local and overseas internship opportunities for Lingnan students.

The mission of University YMCA (Lingnan University) is to nurture the balanced development of students in body, mind and spirit. At the ceremony, Lingnan University President Prof Chan Yuk-Shee said that collaboration with YMCA dated back to the establishment of the chaplain’s office at the University in 1999 for providing spiritual counseling to students. Dr Arnold Cheng, Chairman of University & College YMCA Committee of YMCA said University YMCA (Lingnan University) would combine physical and spiritual training for the healthy development of students. It would help promote their physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual growth, and develop their social skills and career goals. The inauguration of the first student committee of University YMCA (Lingnan University) was held after the ceremony.
