As Convenor of Heads of Universities Committee (HUCOM) 2014-15, President Leonard K Cheng led a delegation of 16 senior administrators from nine tertiary institutions in Hong Kong to visit the Yangtze River Delta on 9-14 May 2015.  The delegation comprised the Vice-Chancellors/Presidents and Pro-Vice-Chancellors/Vice-Presidents from CityU, CUHK, HKBU, HKIEd , HKU, HKUST, LU, PolyU and OUHK.

The delegation visited some higher education institutions in the Yangtze River Delta such as Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China Academy of Art, China’s Buddhist Academy of Mt. Putuo, and had meetings with leaders of other higher education institutions and government officials of the Ministry of Education/Education Department in the Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces.  The meetings had fruitful discussions on the potential collaborations among the institutions involved. 

The delegation was particularly interested in learning about the management and operation of Sino-foreign collaborative institutions on Mainland China.  Therefore, they visited The University of Nottingham Ningbo China and Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, and had a chance to discuss with leaders from Duke Kunshan University.
