Witnessed by more than 150 guests, 41 Lingnan students were sworn in on 15 March to be the 16th Project X volunteers. They will serve 37 youngsters in need in the forthcoming year.

The Commissioning Ceremony was officiated by Mr Chow Kam-cheung, MH, Chairman of District Fight Crime Committee (Tuen Mun District); Mr David Lau, JP, District Officer, Tuen Mun District Office, Home Affairs Department; Mr Mark Ford-McNicol, Deputy District Commander (Tuen Mun), Hong Kong Police Force; Ms Leung Kwai-ling, District Social Welfare Officer (Tuen Mun); Ms Ho Mo-ki, Senior School Development Officer (Tuen Mun), Education Bureau; Mr Tsang Hin-hong, Convenor of Project X Co-ordinating Committee and Prof Chan Yuk-Shee, President of Lingnan University.

Singh, the first participant of South Asian origin in Project X, said he would think about the consequences before doing anything now so as not to bring troubles to other people. Andrew, a Lingnan student who has helped Singh since last year, was glad to see him becoming more punctual, responsible and willing to admit his mistakes. Andrew has also learned to refrain from judging others with his own values and to be more considerate and accommodating. Singh wishes to become a volunteer like Andrew in the future, giving help to other youngsters who have gone astray.
