Living up to the motto of “Education for service”, 37 Lingnan students were sworn in on 21 March to become volunteers of the 17th Project X to serve youngsters who have encountered difficulties on their path of growth, committed petty crimes or displayed deviant behaviour, in the coming year. The youngsters will be referred by the police, the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, Caritas Hong Kong, Salvation Army and YWCA.

The Commissioning Ceremony was officiated by Mr Chow Kam-cheung, MH, Chairman of District Fight Crime Committee (Tuen Mun District); Mr David Lau Kam-kuen, JP, District Officer, Tuen Mun District Office of Home Affairs Department; Mr Iain McNicol, Chief Superintendent & District Commander, Tuen Mun; Ms Leung Kwai-ling, District Social Welfare Officer, Tuen Mun; Ms Emilie Tong Lai-fong, Chief School Development Officer (Tuen Mun), Education Bureau; Mr Tsang Hin-hong, Convenor of Project X Co-ordinating Committee; and Prof Lee Hung-kai, Associate Vice-President (Student Affairs), Lingnan University. The closing ceremony of the 16th Project X was also held on the same occasion.
