On 4 October, Mr Lee Cheuk-yan was invited by the Department of Visual Studies to talk about the establishment of the June Fourth Memorial Museum and the history of the Tiananmen Square democracy movement in 1989.

Lingnan University’s Master of Cultural Studies Programme collaborated with Craftopia and the Hong Kong Art School to organise an exhibition on 8-28 October at the University’s Library, showcasing works by artisans from rural China and Hong Kong.

“Cloud World” – an exhibition by Anna Glynn, Australian contemporary artist and artist-in-residence of the Department of Visual Studies, Lingnan University, is being held from 24 October to 2 November at Tsi Ku Chai Gallery, Central.

Registry would like to bring to your attention a programme established by the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong: the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS), and the details for seeking admission to MPhil/PhD programmes at Lingnan University.

Alumni are now invited to nominate candidates for the Teaching Excellence Awards Scheme (TEAS) which is a biennial event with the aim to recognize and reward distinguished teachers of Lingnan University who have demonstrated outstanding performance in teaching. Nomination Deadline: 28th February 2014.

Awards and Achievements

Lingnan University Year 3 accounting student Vicky Li represented Hong Kong to attend the International Intern Leadership Conference of the EY (Ernst & Young) Academy in the US this summer.

The Lingnan University Aquatic Meet 2013 was held on 30 September at Tin Ka Ping Swimming Pool on campus.

5 October, 2013

Lingnan University Swimming Team has achieved excellent results at the annual aquatic meet of the City University of Hong Kong on 5 October.

Tam Tsz-ying, Sally, Year 2 accounting student, has won the 8th China Youth Innovation Technology Award organised by the China Youth Federation.

Mr Chris Song, Research Development Officer of the Centre for Humanities Research, has won an Extraordinary Mention of the 2013 Nosside International Poetry Award (Italy).

Lingnan University held a dinner reception for 2012/13 academic honours recipients on 30 October in recognition of their excellent academic performance.

New Publications

The 36th volume of “Cultural Studies@Lingnan” is now published.  

All six titles of the “Hong Kong Literature and Culture of the 1950s” series edited by the Centre for Humanities Research, Lingnan University, has now been published by Chung Hwa Book Company.

The second issue of Bachelor of Social Sciences (Hons) e-news has been published.
