「嶺南人之夜」於2014年4月25日假尖沙咀文化中心映月樓圓滿結束。活動反應熱烈,約130名畢業於不同年代的校友出席晚宴,由廣州嶺南大學、司徒拔道年代的嶺南書院、及至嶺南大學的校友均有參與。

嶺大校友義工隊於2014年4月27日再度出發,與40名參加了『「非」常樂聚』的基督教懷智服務處學員,在音樂農莊跟隨導師學習傳統非洲鼓,希望學員在玩樂中,建立正面的人生觀,領略快樂之道,學習透過音樂排遣不快。

Hall F was the champion of the President’s Cup 2013/14 of Lingnan University. The Prize Presentation Ceremony was held on 31 March.

Lingnan University has won Gold Award in the Web Accessibility Recognition Scheme for the second consecutive year.

Sarah Song Yang, Social Sciences Year-one student, has been awarded the second runner-up prize of the AIA Quest for Champion Communicator Contest 2014 – Pearl River Delta (PRD) Round and won the sixth place in the national final.

Prof Sophia Law of Lingnan’s Department of Visual Studies has received a Merit of Certificate under the Non-School Division of Award for Arts Education at the Hong Kong Arts Development Council Awards 2013.

A team of three Lingnan ICAC Ambassadors won two awards in the “i-Relay” Youth Integrity Project organised by the Independent Commission Against Corruption.

Visual Studies students at Lingnan are organising the first Art Wall Exhibition from 7 April to 30 September to showcase more than 150 photos of the blue sky collected by creative artist Teresa Leung. A launch ceremony was held on 7 April.

Su Tong’s best-known novella Wives and Concubines, adapted by director Zhang Yimou to make the film Raising the Red Lantern, had marked a “revolution” in his writing style. At the Lingnan University Writer-in-residence 2014 public seminar “From Raising the Red Lantern to The Oriole” on 10 April, he told the audience that the change had been triggered by some ridicule of a colleague on his editorial team.

The Second Lingnan University Service-Learning Student Association (SLSA) organised the “Bring LOVE Back Home” activity on 14-16 April to encourage students to express love and care to their relatives by writing letters.

An art exhibition entitled “New Hong Kong Art: Contemporary Inspirations” was held at the Leung Fong Oi Wan Art Gallery on 23-28 April, displaying artworks by Visual Studies students at Lingnan who completed the courses “Western Art – Romanticism to Modernism” and “Contemporary Drawing”.

Lingnan University has established the “AR Charitable Foundation Scholarship Scheme” for Risk and Insurance Management students in recognition of the generous donation of an earmarked amount of at least HK$10 million from AR Charitable Foundation Limited. A launch ceremony was held at the University Club on 24 April.

A farewell reception was organised by the Office of Mainland and International Programmes of Lingnan University for more than 120 incoming exchange students and non-local final year scholarship recipients on 28 April.

At the Lingnan University Awards Presentation Ceremony 2014 on 14 April, 585 awards and scholarships totalling about HK$11 million were presented to 390 students in recognition of their outstanding academic and personal achievements.

ZeShan Foundation awarded 20 scholarships on 29 April to support Lingnan students going on exchange in mainland China or overseas for one semester in the academic year 2014/15.

New Publications
19 April, 2014

Selected student papers of the course “Myth in Literature”, taught by Prof Grace Lau Yin-ping of the Department of Chinese, Lingnan University, have been compiled into a new book entitled Deity, Worship and Culture: A Collection of Essays on Myth in Literature. Launch briefings were held on 29 March and 19 April.
