Prof Alfred Chan Cheung-ming, Chairman of the Elderly Commission, Hong Kong SAR and Chair Professor and Director of Asia-Pacific Institute of Ageing Studies (APIAS), Lingnan University, launched on 26 June 2014 a new book co-authored with Dr Anna King-yung Tang, Wan Chai District Councillor, which advocates legislation for maintenance of parents to relieve the hardship of senior citizens in Hong Kong. Dr Leong Chi-hung, former member of the Executive Council and Legislative Council, and ex-chairman of the Elderly Commission, attended as the honourable guest.

Traditional Chinese medicine has earned higher recognition in efficacy among gynaecological patients in Hong Kong, according to a recent survey conducted by the Asia-Pacific Institute of Ageing Studies (APIAS), Lingnan University. About 90% of the respondents believe traditional Chinese medicine has fewer side effects and performs better in health preservation respectively. More than half of the respondents said traditional Chinese medicine is better than Western medicine in “eradicating diseases”.
