Three Lingnan students from the Association of Southeast Asia Nations (ASEAN) countries attended a tea reception organised by the Education Bureau and met with HKSAR Chief Executive Mr CY Leung at the Government House on 25 January.

Lingnan University becomes a partner of the Centre for Global Higher Education, the largest research centre in the world specifically focused on higher education and its future development.

A seminar and book launch co-organised by the Kwan Fong Cultural Research and Development Programme and the Hong Kong Heritage Museum on A Study of the Tai Ping Theatre Collection was held on 12 February at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum.

Professor Emeritus Leslie Sklair, Department of Sociology at the London School of Economics and Political Science was invited to Lingnan University to give a Public Lecture on “Architecture, Cities and Globalization” on 15 February.

To promote international collaboration and enhance student learning, Lingnan University participated in the Higher Education Leaders Asia Forum 2016 held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 23 to 25 February.

Lingnan University hosted the “A Day at University” campus visit for 145 students from 15 primary schools in Tuen Mun today (2 March), which offered primary school students the opportunity to experience university life in a liberal arts university campus. The activity also served to strengthen the University’s connections with its neighbouring communities.

The arts gala “Lingnan Arts Festival 2016” will be held from 2 to 30 March, featuring a rich cornucopia of musical and cultural events on campus.  Organised by the Faculty of Arts of Lingnan University, this annual event provides an opportunity for teachers and students of the University and the public to experience the unique liberal arts atmosphere at Lingnan.

The Lingnan University rowing team won the 2nd runner-up in Mixed 4 x 500m relay in the 16th Hong Kong Universities Indoor Rowing Championships (LU Station) held on 15 February.

New Publications

The New book Hong Kong and British culture, 1945-97 published by Prof Mark Hampton, Associate Professor of the Department of History examines the British cultural engagement with Hong Kong in the second half of the twentieth century.

Two new books written by Prof Zhang Baohui of the Department of Political Science assess the likely impact of China’s emerging nuclear posture, and China’s peasant revolution from an organisational perspective.
