The 2017 Summer Internship Program is the third project that is launched under the Linganian Partnership Scheme. It will be jointly organized by LUAA and Lingnan University to line up internship partners and students of high calibre. We are proud that many of our alumni are specialists in different professions, self-employed, or holding senior positions in the commercial world.

The main objective of this program is to extend Lingnan students’ all-round competence in the real working environment under the leadership and guidance from our experienced alumni. It is expected that this program will motivate more alumni to get in touch with their junior brothers and sisters in Lingnan and, as a result, to unite most if not all Lingnanians to work together for the betterment of Lingnan education and its image.

 

 

Scholarships

Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) is launching two scholarship schemes, namely “Local Arts Administration Scholarships 2017” and “Overseas Arts Administration Scholarships 2017”, to support promising local arts administrators to further their studies in Hong Kong and abroad in order to strengthen their professionalism. Both schemes are supported by funding from the Home Affairs Bureau.

Local Arts Administration Scholarships 2017” are intended to support arts administrators who wish to pursue master courses/ professional programmes in relation to arts administration or business administration related professional programmes at local universities or tertiary institutions. The intended programmes must commence within the period from 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2018. Each scholarship will cover 70% of the tuition fees, up to a maximum amount of HK$80,000. Around six local scholarships will be awarded.

“Overseas Arts Administration Scholarships 2017” are intended to support arts administrators who wish to pursue taught master courses in relation to arts administration at overseas accredited institutions. The intended programmes must commence within the period from 1 September 2017 to 31 August 2018. Around six overseas scholarships, with a bursary up to HK$450,000 each which covers tuition fee, subsistence allowance and a round-trip flight ticket, will be awarded.

Application guidelines and forms for the schemes can be downloaded here or obtained from the HKADC Administration Office (10/F, 1063 King’s Road, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong).  Application deadline is by 6:00pm on 10 March 2017 (Friday).  For enquiries, please contact HKADC’s Planning Officer Ms Polly LUI at 2820-1090.

Campus News

The beginning of 2017 was marked by a number of recent research achievements of Lingnan academics and new developments regarding research and knowledge transfer.

Since its inception in 2011, the Lingnan Arts Festival has savoured a rich cornucopia of musical and cultural events on campus.  lt aims to bring various forms of arts from Hong Kong as well as other parts of the world to Lingnan.  Students and staff will be able to enrich their cultural well-being through enjoying and taking part in a variety of arts and cultural activities.

From Hong Kong to Ghana, ageing population with its concomitant health implications is being felt in almost every region or country across the globe. Razak Mohammed Gyasi, a Lingnan PhD scholar in Social Policy from Ghana, has recently conducted a health research in his home country to understand the healthcare needs and health-seeking behaviour of the elderly, with the goal of improving elderly’s health protection and ageing policy framework and practice in Ghana.

Lingnan University and Beijing Normal University have recently signed an agreement on the launch of the Double Master’s Degree Programme of Lingnan’s Master of Science in Work and Organisational Psychology and Beijing Normal University’s Master in Applied Psychology in 2017/18.

A group of 20 BBA undergraduate students joined the “BBA Taiwan Study Tour 2017” organised and sponsored by the Faculty of Business.  The 4-day study tour from 3 to 6 January was led by Prof Yeung Wing-lok, Associate Director of Undergraduate Business Programmes.  It aims to widen students’ horizons on the study environment and business development in Taiwan, and allow them to observe real life business operations.

New Publications

In the new issue of Lingnan Chronicle, there is a summary of the commendations from the Report of a Quality Audit of the University released by the Quality Assurance Council (QAC) of the University Grants Committee on 19 October 2016. The QAC findings confirmed that the University is committed to providing quality whole-person education informed by the best of Chinese and Western liberal arts traditions.
