Awards and Achievements

Prof Leonard K Cheng, President of Lingnan University, welcomes the University Accountability Agreements (UAAs) announced by the University Grants Committee (UGC). The agreements support the eight UGC-funded universities in striving for excellence in teaching and learning, research, and knowledge transfer; and in encouraging students’ engagement in community services. According to the report of UAAs, Lingnan University received the highest score in the area of “undergraduate satisfaction with the quality and value which they have gained from their teaching and learning experience”, which was evaluated by the undergraduates of the eight UGC-funded universities during the 2017/18 academic year.

To promote gerontechnology in Hong Kong and raise public awareness of smart ageing and technological innovations, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust is underwriting Lingnan University’s LU Jockey Club Gerontechnology and Smart Ageing Project for three years.

The International Postgraduate Summer School co-hosted by Lingnan University and the University of Oxford commenced on 23 June 2019 at Lingnan University, attracting the participation of postgraduate students and faculty members from different universities in mainland China, Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong. After one-week study at Lingnan University, selected students continued the Programme at Hertford College, University of Oxford in early July 2019. Students participating in the International Summer School were highly satisfied not only with their learning experiences but also cultural exchange in the UK.

In line with Lingnan’s strive for a global learning experience, the University has recently renewed agreements of cooperation with Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México in Mexico and Kristianstad University in Sweden.

Mary Garcia has always benefited from English speech, English songs, and foreign-language movies. When it came to deciding which major subject to study at Lingnan University, she thinks Contemporary English Studies was a good choice that came naturally.

Throughout the ages, what have Hong Kong citizens longed for? Looking at the whole world, how does each city uniquely shape its residents’ present and future lives? The Department of Cultural Studies offers two courses in the fall term of 2019/20 that shed light on different cultures and people from all walks of life.
