Fundraising

The outbreak of COVID-19 has threatened the well-being of every one in Hong Kong and beyond. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many of our 2020 graduates have missed some valuable opportunities associated with a normal university life.  Moreover, the pandemic has casted a shadow over the future of this year’s graduates who will face a shrinking job market this summer.

In order to support our 2020 graduates in dealing with the adverse economic impact of the pandemic, the President and the Vice-President have decided to donate 10% of their annual salary to initiate the “Support Fund for 2020 Graduates” with a target of HK$5 million for the benefits of over 600 graduates this year.

We sincerely appeal to every one of you, as an invaluable member of the Lingnan community, to join hands with us.  Your generous support in making a donation to the Fund or providing other non-monetary contributions, be they job, internship or community service opportunities, will be extremely meaningful and important to our graduating students.  Please click here to show your support!

Should you have any enquiries about the Fund, please click here to visit our website or contact our colleagues at 2616-8976 or development@LN.edu.hk. Thank you very much in advance for your support.

Lingnan University (LU) conferred seven Honorary Doctorates and Honorary Fellowships 2019/20 at its Honorary Doctorate and Honorary Fellowship Conferment Ceremony today (17 June), in recognition of their outstanding achievements in their professions and their valuable contributions to society.

The COVID-19 pandemic has boosted e-commerce around the globe, including the consumer to consumer (C2C) markets on platforms such as social media. Interestingly, scholars from Lingnan University (LU) have found that not only do attractive faces get better results, unattractive faces also achieve better results than plain-looking faces in online selling, particularly in expertise-relevant products and for female consumers evaluating male sellers. These novel findings, published in the latest issue of the prestigious international academic publication Journal of Marketing, give social sellers and e-marketers insight about how to leverage seller appearances in online selling.

In a recent survey conducted by the School of Graduate Studies of Lingnan University (LU) on international/non-local higher education students’ physical and psychological wellbeing during the COVID-19 pandemic, nearly 90 per cent of respondents said the outbreak had caused “moderate to extreme” disruption to learning activities. Over 70 per cent expressed concern about the outbreak, while 45 per cent said they were feeling lonely. The research team advises higher education institutions to find creative and effective ways of supporting international students during this challenging time.
