The Centre for Humanities Research organised the seminar “My 1960s” on 3 March at Fong Sum Wood Library, which also marked the launch of its project on “The Making of Modernism – Hong Kong Literature and Culture of the 1960s” under the Research Grants Council’s General Research Fund (GRF).

Following its success in completing the previous GRF project on the 1950s, the Centre goes on to map the cultural landscape of the 1960s which is no doubt more complicated and dynamic. In the seminar, Prof Grace Lau Yin-ping, Associate Vice-President (Student Affairs) and Professor of the Department of Chinese, Prof Mary Wong Shuk-han, Director of the Centre and Associate Professor of the Department of Chinese, Prof Sophia Law Suk-mun, Associate Director of the Centre and Associate Professor of the Department of Visual Studies, Dr Siu Yan-ho, Lecturer, Ms Shum Hoi-yin, PhD candidate and Mr Chow Leung, Year 3 student of the Department of Chinese shared with the audience their research and feelings about Hong Kong in the 1960s.
